How to Remove Dip Nails FAST : Baggie Method with Rice

Posted on August 11 2020

As all dip nail lovers certainly know, one of the biggest advantages to having dip nails is their durability. They are strong but this also results in them taking some time to remove.

So if you've been struggling because the removal process seems a little overwhelming, you came to the right place. We found the perfect solution for you: the baggie method with rice! It may seem a bit odd but it works the quickest of any method and you should definitely give it a try!

Get Your Tools Ready

Before you get started, make sure you have all the right tools. You’re going to need the following:

  • Nail file
  • Nail buffer
  • A small bowl
  • A small plastic bag
  • Rice
  • Acetone
  • Cuticle Oil (optional)

Step 1: Begin the removal process by buffing the top layer of each nail. The goal is to remove the entire top layer of your dip. This will allow the acetone to penetrate the product much faster.

Step 2: Add a cup of dry uncooked rice in a small bowl and microwave it for up to 30-60 seconds

Step 3: Pour 100% Acetone into the bag, we recommend the bags that zip seal to prevent spills.

Step 4: Place the bag in the bowl of rice and put your hand inside for 5-10 minutes. It is still very important to test the temperature before placing your hand inside. Not only could you burn yourself, but the rice can burn through your plastic bag, causing your acetone to leak.

Step 5: Check on the nails from time to time to see the progress if the product is dissolved. After 5-10 minutes the entire material is removed.

Step 6: Use a paper towel or cotton ball to wipe off any excess dip powder. If there are tiny pieces of polish remaining, don't worry, take your buffer and gently rub them off. If you need or want to, this is also the time to grab a cuticle pusher and gently push back any skin that’s crept up too far above your nail bed.

Step 7: Finish by washing your hands and applying Nourish Cuticle Oil. We recommend you to use it 3-4 a week to keep your cuticles and nails hydrated!

Remember, no matter which method you choose to remove your dip powder, you should give your nails some downtime in between manicures to prevent them from breaking and becoming brittle!
